Farm Manager:
As a layer poultry farm manager (doctor), your responsibilities would encompass supervisin of three sites and various aspects of managing the farm and ensuring the health and productivity of the laying hens. Here's a list of typical job tasks for a layer poultry farm manager (doctor):
Requirements:
3 years or more of experience as a poultry farm manager in a controlled cage house.
B.Sc. in poultry science, DVM doctor, or relevant field.
Ability to communicate in English, Urdu, and Punjabi.
Knows in and out, of and poultry industry.
Ability to develop opportunities for the company.
Have generated insights from data from record keeping.
Tasks, duties and responsibilities:
Health Monitoring and Disease Prevention:
· Regularly (weekly) inspect the flock to identify any signs of illness or disease.
· Implement vaccination schedules and administer medications as needed.
· Monitor biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks.
· Isolate and treat sick birds to prevent the spread of infections.
Egg Production and Quality Control:
· Monitor egg production levels and identify any changes or abnormalities.
· Implement strategies to improve egg quality and minimize egg breakage.
· Ensure that eggs are collected, sorted, and stored properly to maintain freshness.
Facility Management:
· Manage the layer poultry farm infrastructure and ensure it is well-maintained.
· Monitor temperature, ventilation, and lighting in the poultry houses to optimize bird comfort and productivity.
· Implement waste management practices to maintain cleanliness and reduce disease risk.
Record Keeping and Data Analysis:
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of flock health, production, and feed consumption.
· Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and potential issues in the flock's performance.
· Use data to make informed decisions and optimize flock management practices.
Staff Supervision and Training:
· Lead and supervise farm staff, providing guidance and training as necessary.
· Foster a positive work environment and ensure that all employees adhere to farm protocols and safety standards.
· Making sure labor shortage is accomodated
Cost Management:
· Optimize cost-effective practices while maintaining the flock's health and productivity.
Compliance and Regulatory Responsibilities:
· Stay informed about relevant regulations and industry standards.
· Ensure the farm operates in compliance with local and national laws and regulations.
Continuous Improvement and Research:
· Stay updated with the latest advancements in poultry farming and veterinary medicine.
· Implement research-based best practices to enhance the farm's efficiency and bird welfare.
· Liaison with Suppliers and Veterinarians:
· Maintain relationships with feed suppliers, equipment providers, and veterinary professionals.
· Coordinate with veterinarians for disease diagnosis, treatment, and advice.
